ULSAN, Nov 7: A boiler tower collapsed at a thermal power plant in Ulsan, trapping seven workers, with rescue operations ongoing. The incident occurred at Korea East-West Power Co. at around 2 PM. Initially, nine workers were reported trapped; however, two were rescued early, with two more spotted and an ongoing search for five remaining individuals. The tower, 60 meters tall, was being dismantled with explosives. South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Prime Minister Kim Min-seok have called for a full mobilization of rescue efforts and safety measures. The labor ministry announced a strict investigation into potential safety violations, while the plant, operational since 1981, was in the process of dismantling following its retirement in 2022.
