Bangkok, Nov 25: A 65-year-old woman in Thailand was found alive in a coffin brought to a Buddhist temple for cremation, shocking temple staff and attracting widespread attention online.The incident occurred at Wat Rat Prakhong Tham, located in Nonthaburi province near Bangkok.
A video posted by the temple on Facebook showed the woman lying in a white coffin on the back of a pickup truck, moving her arms and head slightly, leaving staff bewildered.
Pairat Soodthoop, the temple’s general and financial affairs manager, told The Associated Press that the woman’s brother had driven her from Phitsanulok province to the temple.
The family reported hearing faint knocking from inside the coffin, prompting staff to open it. They were stunned to find her alive, opening her eyes and knocking on the coffin’s sides.
The brother explained that she had been bedridden for about two years, and her health had recently deteriorated. She appeared unresponsive and was thought to have stopped breathing two days prior.
