Chennai, Feb 3: Indian cricketer B Sai Sudharsan is expected to miss several weeks of action after suffering a rib fracture during a Vijay Hazare Trophy match for Tamil Nadu against Madhya Pradesh in Ahmedabad. The injury happened while he was diving to complete a run.The 24‑year‑old reported to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru on December 29 for treatment and scans, which showed a fracture in the anterior cortex of his right seventh rib. Such injuries usually take about six to eight weeks to heal, meaning Sudharsan will likely miss the remainder of Tamil Nadu’s current domestic fixtures.
While he may be unavailable for Ranji Trophy games, there is hope he could return in time for the IPL 2026 season with the Gujarat Titans, once his rehabilitation and conditioning progress. At the CoE, he has begun lower‑body conditioning with protective support for the injured rib and will gradually resume full training as his recovery continues.
The setback comes as a blow to both his state side and franchise, but careful management and rehabilitation aim to have him back on the field as soon as it is safe.
