DMK MP Kanimozhi has criticised AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, accusing him of recycling old electoral promises as new proposals ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Speaking to reporters in Hosur, she said this practice amounts to rebranding earlier commitments rather than presenting fresh ideas to voters.Kanimozhi highlighted that several schemes now being touted by the AIADMK were originally announced — but not implemented — during previous administrations. Using the example of women’s empowerment initiatives, she pointed out that a two-wheeler subsidy scheme announced in 2018 was now being presented again as a new promise, despite remaining unfulfilled. She said such moves mislead the electorate and blur the distinction between genuine achievements and repackaged pledges.
As head of the DMK’s election manifesto preparation committee, Kanimozhi stressed that the party’s own manifesto would be shaped by extensive public consultation. She said the DMK aims to craft a document that truly reflects people’s aspirations, with a focus on protecting rights, promoting development, and empowering citizens across the state.
Kanimozhi also touched on infrastructure issues, stating that the party would pursue development of the Hosur airport and raise it during the upcoming parliamentary session, emphasising the importance of improved connectivity for regional growth.
The exchange reflects a growing political battle as parties gear up for the state elections, with each side seeking to assert its record and future plans in anticipation of voters’ scrutiny.
