The press meet of the upcoming Tamil film ‘Pookie’ was held recently, with the cast and crew sharing details about the project. Produced by Fatima Vijay Antony under the Vijay Antony Film Corporation banner and presented by Meera Vijay Antony, the film stars Ajay Dishan in the lead role and marks the directorial debut of Ganesh Chandra. Positioned as a youth-centric romance-comedy, Pookie is set for a worldwide theatrical release on February 13, 2026, perfectly timed for Valentine’s Day.Speaking at the event, producer Vijay Antony thanked everyone who has supported him throughout his journey and described Ganesh Chandra as the real hero of the film. He recalled introducing him earlier as a cinematographer and said presenting him now as a director was a proud moment. Vijay Antony stressed the importance of writers in Tamil cinema, praising writer Pudhiya Parithi as a promising talent. He also lauded Ajay Dishan for his sincerity and hard work, and appreciated actress Dhanusha for her performance, dialogue delivery and commitment. He thanked the entire cast, crew and Zee Studios for acquiring the film’s rights, expressing confidence in the film’s success.
Director Ganesh Chandra said Pookie marks his transition from behind the camera to calling the shots as a director. Thanking Vijay Antony for trusting him, he revealed that the film was completed in just six months. He credited Vijay Antony’s relentless work ethic for motivating the team and said the film’s biggest strengths were its writer, lead actor and heroine. He added that the crew worked like a family, which helped complete the film smoothly.
Lead actor Ajay Dishan described Pookie as a deeply personal experience, saying the script, rooted in real emotions, moved him from the first reading. He thanked the director and team for the supportive environment and said the film felt like a second home.
