In a new initiative in Tamil Nadu’s run-up to the 2026 Assembly elections, Seeman-led Naam Tamilar Katchi has announced Brahmin community candidates in six constituencies, signalling a strategy to broaden its appeal. These nominations were revealed as part of the party’s full slate of candidates for all 234 seats in the state.
The six constituencies with Brahmin nominees include Thousand Lights, Mylapore, Saidapet, Alandur, Maduravoyal, and T. Nagar, where the party has fielded candidates such as Anusha, Arun, Sreevidhya, Mahalaxmi, Revathi and Kasiraman. The move is seen as an attempt to attract voters from a community that major Dravidian parties have traditionally not prioritised.
Supporters have welcomed the step as reflecting social justice and inclusive representation. Critics, however, argue that the nominations could be aimed at drawing Brahmin votes away from larger parties.
