Gold prices in Chennai increased today rising by ₹800 per sovereign (8 grams) amid global market volatility linked to the ongoing US–Israel conflict with Iran.
With the latest increase, 22-carat gold is now priced at ₹1,20,400 per sovereign and ₹15,050 per gram. On the previous day, March 9, gold was sold at ₹1,19,600 per sovereign and ₹14,950 per gram.
Silver prices also witnessed an increase, rising by ₹10 to ₹300 per gram (₹3,00,000 per kilogram). A day earlier, silver was priced at ₹290 per gram.
Market analysts noted that gold prices have risen significantly over the past year. On March 10, 2025, gold was priced at ₹64,400 per sovereign, compared to ₹1,20,400 today, marking an increase of nearly ₹56,000, or about 87 percent over the year.
