Director Ameen Barifâs upcoming fantasy comedy thriller series Khakee Circus is set to premiere on ZEE5 from April 10, the makers announced.
Headlined by Munishkanth, the seven-episode series is described as a quirky, high-energy entertainer set within a sub-jail, blending elements of fantasy and comedy with thriller undertones.
The project was initially titled Once Upon a Time in Kayamkulam, but was later renamed Khakee Circus to better capture its irreverent humour, eccentric characters and unpredictable narrative.
Written and directed by Ameen Barif and produced by Srinithi Sagar under the banner of Rise East Entertainment, the series features an ensemble cast including Subash Selvam, Rajesh Madhavan, Gowthami Nair, Vinsu Rache, Savithri, Amrudha, Abdul Lee, Maruthupandiyan, Rakesh Ushar, Vigneshwar, Arnukumar Pavumba and Chithtirasenan.
With its unique premise and offbeat storytelling, Khakee Circus is expected to offer a fresh viewing experience for OTT audiences.
