Chennai, Apr 2:

Extensive security measures have been deployed across Chennai ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry as part of the BJP’s high-profile election campaign.

Authorities have mobilized nearly 3,000 police personnel to ensure safety, crowd management, and smooth conduct of the Prime Minister’s engagements in both regions.

According to official sources, PM Modi is scheduled to arrive in Chennai at around 3:20 pm on Friday via a special aircraft. On landing, he will travel by helicopter to Puducherry, where he will participate in key campaign events, including public rallies and voter outreach programs.

Following his schedule in Puducherry, the Prime Minister is expected to return to Chennai by approximately 6:00 pm. He will stay overnight at a five-star hotel in the Guindy area and hold a closed-door strategy meeting with senior BJP leaders, focusing on poll preparations, booth-level management, and overall electoral strategy.

Heavy security arrangements have been implemented across critical locations in Chennai, including the airport, Guindy, and Meenambakkam, following directives from city police leadership.

Authorities have put in place a multi-layered security grid, with personnel stationed at intervals of every 10 feet along designated routes to maintain maximum surveillance and ensure rapid reponse capability.

Additional measures include restricted vehicular movement along key routes, advanced surveillance using CCTV and drone monitoring, and coordination between state police, central forces, and local law enforcement units.

The deployment is designed to handle large crowds, prevent disruptions, and maintain public safety during the high-stakes election campaign visit.

The Prime Minister’s visit underscores the BJP’s intensive efforts to mobilize voter engagement and visibility ahead of the April 23 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, while authorities aim to ensure that all events proceed in a safe and controlled environment.
