Chennai, Oct 29:
Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay is likely to visit Pudukkottai on November 2 to participate in a government function, during which he is expected to inaugurate a newly constructed indoor stadium and a renovated bus stand, besides launching development projects and distributing welfare assistance.
According to reports, Vijay is expected to fly from Chennai to Tiruchirappalli and travel by helicopter to the Armed Reserve Police ground in Pudukkottai. From there, he is likely to proceed by road to the venue. District administration and police officials have reportedly inspected the helipad in preparation for the proposed visit.
The programme may include the inauguration of completed public infrastructure projects, foundation-stone laying ceremonies for new projects and distribution of benefits to eligible beneficiaries under various government schemes. A roadshow allowing the Chief Minister to interact with the public is also being considered. However, the itinerary, timings and roadshow arrangements are yet to be officially confirmed.
Vijay had visited Coimbatore on October 16, when he inaugurated the Periyar Arivulagam building and launched development projects worth several hundred crores of rupees. The proposed Pudukkottai visit would be another government outreach programme outside Chennai. An official announcement is awaited on the final schedule.
