As campaigning for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections drew to a close, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Monday intensified his attack on the ruling DMK, accusing it of attempting to weaken opposition parties and failing to maintain law and order in the State.

Campaigning in his home constituency of Edappadi, Palaniswami shared the stage with PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss and addressed party workers and supporters during the final phase of electioneering.

Reiterating his earlier charge, Palaniswami said the DMK had tried to split both the AIADMK and the PMK but had not succeeded. “While I became the Chief Minister in 2017, I faced many challenges. Dr. Anbumani also encountered similar issues. The DMK tried to break the AIADMK and the PMK, but it did not succeed in its attempts,” he said.

Launching a broader political offensive, the AIADMK leader expressed confidence that the ongoing election would bring an end to the DMK’s rule in Tamil Nadu. He alleged a rise in narcotics circulation in the State and accused DMK cadres of being linked to the illegal ganja trade, claiming that this had hindered effective enforcement.

Palaniswami asserted that if voted to power, the AIADMK would eradicate the ganja menace within three months. He further alleged a deterioration in law and order under the present government, claiming that safety for women and children had been compromised.
