In a major political upset, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam has taken the lead in all 16 Assembly constituencies in Chennai, traditionally considered a stronghold of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. After two rounds of counting, TVK candidates are ahead across the city, signalling a significant shift in voter trends in the Chennai region.
Chief Minister M. K. Stalin is trailing in Kolathur, while Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin is behind in Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni.
The early trends have come as a major setback for the DMK, which has historically dominated Chennai politics. Officials, however, emphasised that these are initial leads and the situation may evolve as counting progresses further.
