Chennai, May 13:
Four members of family were killed in an accident involving a car and a lorry at Pollachi-Palladam main road in Coimbatore district, even as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay condoled their deaths and announced a solatium of Rs. 300,000 each to their family.
An official release said Dhanapal (37), a native of Kaadayampatti village in Salem district, and his family members were proceeding to Pollachi to Palladam in a cruiser car when a God-laden lorry, heading towards Pollachi from Palladam, collided with the car.
The lorry driver, Saravanan (39), was driving at high speed resulting in the accident, killing four people on the spot.
The deceased were Dhanapal, his wife Menaka (35), their daughter Kanishka (17) and Menaka sister’s daughter Sneha (23), while Dhanapal’s son Surjith (12) lorry driver Saravanan (39) sustained injuries.
Police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to the government hospital for post mortem. The injured Surjith and the lorry driver were admitted to hospital for treatment. Surjith, who sustained serious injuries, was administered first aid and shifted to Government Coimbatore Medical College ad Hospital for advanced treatment.
While directing the doctors to provide best of the treatment to the injured, including Surjith, Vijay expressed grief and anguish over the accident and announced a solatium of Rs three lakh each to the deceased family members and one lakh each to both the injured from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.
