Chennai, June 16:

Tamil Nadu is experiencing intense summer conditions, with heatwave-like temperatures reported in 12 locations across the state, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre.

Officials said several interior districts recorded temperatures crossing 100°F, highlighting the continued impact of strong summer conditions. Areas including Vellore, Erode, Salem, Karur, and Madurai are among those affected.

A weather official noted, “Maximum temperatures are remaining above normal in interior Tamil Nadu, and people are advised to avoid direct exposure during peak afternoon hours.”

Residents across districts reported severe discomfort due to rising heat, with humid coastal regions also feeling the impact. A local resident said, “The heat during daytime is becoming difficult to manage, especially for those working outdoors.”

Meteorologists have advised people to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged outdoor activity, and take precautions against heat-related illness as high temperatures are expected to continue in the coming days.
