TN govt pledges zero-tolerance on corruption

Chennai, June 19:

The Tamil Nadu government has reaffirmed its strong commitment to eliminate corruption from the administrative system and establish a transparent and accountable governance framework, Governor R V Arlekar announced in the State Assembly on Thursday.

Delivering his maiden customary address to the House on the first session of the new TVK government headed by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, the Governor said the government is determined to root out corruption that has been prevalent in the system and ensure a clean and honest administration for the public.

He added that all departmental procurement and public tender processes will be made fully transparent and placed under strict monitoring mechanisms. The address also stressed that the role of middlemen and illegal gratification practices will be completely eliminated in governance systems.
