Chennai, June 19:

The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam general secretary Premalatha Vijayakant on Thursday criticised the Governor’s Address delivered at the start of the first Assembly session of the new government, alleging that it failed to adequately address key law-and-order concerns in the State.

Speaking to reporters, she said several welfare schemes mentioned in the address appeared to be continuations of previous government initiatives, but were presented as achievements of the current administration.

While welcoming the observance of Tamil Thai Vazhthu and the playing of the National Anthem twice during proceedings, she described the overall address as having “pitfalls” and said a detailed response would be issued later.
