Chennai, July 9:
Southern Railway has announced the operation of special trains from Chennai to Mangaluru and Kollam to cater to the increased passenger demand during the upcoming Onam festival season.
According to an official release, special trains will run between Chennai Egmore and Mangaluru on July 14, 21 and 28, as well as on August 4, 11, 18 and 25, and September 1.
Similarly, special services will be operated between Chennai Central and Kollam on July 13, 20 and 27, August 3, and September 3.
The additional services have been introduced to manage the festive rush, particularly from passengers travelling between Tamil Nadu and Kerala during Onam. Railway authorities said the move is aimed at ensuring smoother travel and reducing congestion on regular trains.
Passengers are advised to check train schedules and booking availability in advance, as high demand is expected during the festival period.
