England’s white-ball stalwart Jos Buttler etched his name into the record books by becoming the highest run-scorer in T20 cricket history during Manchester Super Giants’ The Hundred fixture against Welsh Fire at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
The 35-year-old surpassed former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard’s long-standing tally of 14,803 runs after smashing Marco Jansen for a six, a stroke that also marked the beginning of three consecutive maximums in a trademark display of power hitting.
With statistics from The Hundred included in official T20 records by cricket statisticians, Buttler’s career aggregate now stands at 14,833 runs in the shortest format, taking him past Pollard to the top of the all-time list.
