NEW DELHI:
The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday conducted searches at multiple locations in Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand and Karnataka as part of a money-laundering investigation linked to the bomb attack on the RSS office in Ranchi in June.
The searches were carried out under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The investigation stems from an FIR registered by the National Investigation Agency in connection with the attack on the RSS office in the Nivaranpur area of the Jharkhand capital.
According to officials, two persons were arrested by the police for allegedly hurling petrol bombs at the RSS office on June 17. Following the incident, the RSS had alleged that petrol bombs were thrown at its office, prompting the Jharkhand Police to constitute a Special Investigation Team.
The ED’s action is part of the financial investigation arising from the case being investigated by the central agencies. The searches were conducted simultaneously at locations spread across four States.
The agency is investigating the financial aspects linked to the case under the PMLA. Further details regarding the premises searched and any material seized were not immediately available.
The Ranchi incident had triggered a police investigation after the alleged petrol-bomb attack on the RSS office. The NIA subsequently registered a case, forming the basis for the ED’s money-laundering probe.
