Jaya death probe: Health Minister Vijaya Bhaskar appears before commission

Chennai: After ignoring three summons by the Justice Arumughaswamy Commission that is probing the circumstances leading to the death of Jayalalithaa when she was chief minister, Health Minister C Vijaya Bhaskar finally made it.

He appeared before the commission today, and according to reports, was answering questions on the treatment given to the late leader when she was in hospital for 75 days in 2016.

The commission had summoned Vijaya Bhaskar thrice before but the Minister failed to turn up to record his statements.

The Government of Tamilnadu set up the commission to probe the circumstances leading to the death of Jayalalithaa after she was hospitalised for 75 days in late 2016.

This was one of the conditions imposed by AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam to merge his faction with that of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.

The commission, headed by retired judge Arumughaswamy, has so far examined doctors of Apollo Hospitals and AIIMS and other witnesses.
