Chennai: V Senthil Balaji who walked out of the TTV Dhinakaran-led Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam on 14 December 2018 and joined the DMK in the presence of party chief M K Stalin has been made party in charge for western Karur district.
Nanniyur Rajendran, Karur district party secretary, was relieved from the top post and was made the head of the weavers wing of the party on Thursday.
The DMK urged the party office bearers to join hands with Balaji. The DMK looks to strengthening the party in the western region through Balaji ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
It is to be noted that Balaji was the Transport Minister from 2011 to 2016 during the late Jayalalithaa’s rule. Balaji had stated he joined the DMK after he was inspired by Stalin’s performance and leadership qualities.
