Dismembered body of woman found in Chennai: Husband held for murder

Chennai: The case of a woman’s murder when her limbs were found in the Perungudi dumpyard recently has been solved with the arrest of her husband.

According to the police, S R Balakrishnan and Sandhya were residents of Thoothukudi but had shifted to Jafferkhanpet in Chennai. Balakrishnan had directed a romantic film but was without regular income. It is said this led to constant friction between the couple who have two school-going children.

The couple had also filed for divorce. Sandhya is said to have confronted Balakrishnan at Jafferkhanpet in January, when he is said to have murdered her. He then used a saw to cut her into pieces and discarded them at various places, including at Valluvar Kottam.

Two legs and an arm found their way to the Perungudi dumpyard, where they were spotted during segregation. The police were seized of the matter and began investigations. When they grilled Balakrishnan, he spilled the beans. He is said to have told the police that he was angry that she was getting close to another man and murdered her.

The police have now set up a search for the other body parts of Sandhya.
