Chennai: BJP president Amit Shah, who was scheduled to visit Chennai today to finalise the alliance deal with the AIADMK, has cancelled his trip.

But the visit, by a private flight, was cancelled today, say reports.
Amit Shah, who was in Mumbai, Maharashtra, to ink the poll deal with the Shiv Sena, is said to have returned to Delhi from there this morning. He was expected to visit Chennai for the same purpose today.
The first round of talks between the AIADMK and BJP took place 14 February in Chennai. BJP Tamilnadu in-charge Piyush Goyal held parleys for three hours with AIADMK ministers S P Velumani and Thangamani. Since there were snags in finalising the deal, it was said Amit Shah would visit Chennai today to sort out the sticky points.
It is said the PMK and DMDK would be part of the alliance.
With the general elections just days away, seat-sharing talks between parties are reaching fever pitch. The AIADMK leaders had been hinting that a tie-up with the BJP was in the offing. Similarly, DMDK deputy general secretary Sudhish had told he media that talks were on with the BJP but that the final announcement would be made by party leader Vijayakanth when he returns to Chennai from America.
Vijayakanth returned Saturday after being treated in the US for various ailments.
