Chennai: Alliance talks for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections continued in the State today. A day after AIADMK officially announced its partnership and seat sharing with BJP and PMK, DMK and Congress are getting ready to make their poll deal public later today.
Tamilnadu Congress Committee president K S Alagiri said the seat sharing between DMK and Congress has been finalised and will be announced by senior party leader Mukul Wasnik at 6 pm in the city today. It is said the Congress may get nine seats in Tamilnadu and one in Pudhucherry.
Sources also said DMK was holding talks with VCK too. It is said VCK has asked to contest from Chidambaram and Villupuram and the talks have not been finalised yet.
Meanwhile, after reports that TMC’s Vidiyal Sekar was holding talks with Electricity Minister and AIADMK alliance committee member Thangamani about seat sharing, TMC chief G K Vaasan said his party was not holding official talks with AIADMK about poll pact.
In a statement, Vaasan said that the stand of the party will be announced either by him or party’s vice-president Gnanadesikan.
Meanwhile, dilemma continues in DMDK in deciding the alliance. DMDK deputy general secretary L K Sudhish held a meeting with senior leaders of the party today.
The meeting is considered to be significant as it happened a day after BJP senior leader and Union Minister Piyush Goyal met DMDK chief Vijayakanth Tuesday. The DMDK is expected to announce its stand today. Speaking to reporters, after the meeting yesterday, Goyal said, “Everything in life is not about alliances and politics. There are some personal human relationships also.”
He stated that he wanted to enquire about the actor-politician’s health and that it was not about alliance or politics. Goyal said he conveyed the wishes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah for Vijayakanth’s good health and long life.
It may be noted that AIADMK yesterday inked pact with PMK and BJP. PMK was given seven constituencies and one Rajya Sabha seat and BJP was given five seats.
