2019 polls: Ex-MP Ganeshamurthi is MDMK candidate for Erode seat

Chennai: The MDMK, a partner in the DMK-led Social Progressive Alliance in Tamilnadu, for the 18 April Lok Sabha elections, today announced that former MP A Ganeshamurthi will contest from the Erode constituency it has been allotted.

Ganeshamurthi, a two-time MP, had represented Palani in the 12th Lok Sabha (1998) and Erode, during the 2009-14 period.

“Ganeshamurthi is contesting from Erode as MDMK candidate, on behalf of the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance,” MDMK founder Vaiko said in a statement here this morning.

Ganshamurthi is also the treasurer of the party.

The MDMK has been allotted the Erode constituency, with DMK president M K Stalin assuring one Rajya Sabha seat for the party as and when the election to the Upper House is announced.
