DMK functionary kills brother, absconds

Chennai: The police are on the hunt for a Thoothukudi DMK youth wing and Vijay fan club secretary absconding after he shot and killed his brother at midnight yesterday over a property dispute.

The suspect, Billa Jagan, his brother and victim, Simson (32) and another sibling, Suman, are residents of the Chinnakadai area of Thoothukudi and were living under the same roof.

They also had another younger brother, who died in an accident some time back. After this, the three siblings reportedly had frequent quarrels over property share.

Last midnight, Simson and Suman picked up a quarrel once again with their brother Jagan on the terrace of their house. Jagan’s supporter ‘Dham’ Manikandan and Simson’s supporter Marris alias Narayanan from Puthiamputhur also got involved in the argument. Both sides were reportedly drunk and things started escalating as harsh words were exchanged.

In a fit of rage, Jagan took a 9mm country-made pistol and shot his brother. The bullets pierced Simson’s thighs twice.
The people who came to pacify the brothers rushed Simson to the hospital. However, Simson had lost a lot of blood by then and died.

To escape punishment, Billa Jagan fled from the scene and is now absconding.
