MDMK leader Vaiko goes on appeal to Madras HC in sedition case

Chennai: Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) general secretary Vaiko, who was recently convicted in a sedition case and sentenced to a year in prison by a special court, has gone on appeal to the Madras High Court.

In his plea that was presented today in court, Vaiko argued that the judgement of the special court was not legal. In the face of lack of concrete evidence or witnesses in the case, he said the special court drew its own conclusions and delivered its judgement.

He prayed for the High Court to set aside the one-year sentence.

Vaiko’s case is likely to come up for hearing next week.
