Chennai: Veteran folk artiste, actor and playback singer Paravai Muniyamma passed away in Madurai in the early hours of today due to age-related illness. She was 83.
According to sources, she was suffering from ailments for the past few years and she breathed her last at her residence this morning.
Muniyamma’s acting career started off with a role in ‘Dhool’ (2003). Since then she has appeared in over 50 films, usually playing grandmother roles.
She has completed 2,000 stage performances on folk songs, which also includes shows in London, Singapore and Malaysia. She has been awarded in 2019, Kalaimamani for the year of 2012 by the government. of Tamilnadu.
