With 747 new cases, Chennai now has just 12 containment zones


Chennai: The number of containment zones in Chennai has come down to just 12, following steady decline in Covid-19 infections and more recoveries.

With 2,708 new cases on Monday, Tamilnadu’s case tally rose to 7,11,713 and the toll increased to 10,956. As many as 4,014 persons were discharged following treatment. A total of 6,71,489 persons have been discharged till date.

Tamilnadu reported under 3000 cases for the third day in a row, while Chennai too continued to remain under 1000 cases on Monday and the number of cases declined to 747 on Monday.

Chennai’s neighbouring districts of Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur recorded 143 cases, 119 and 133 cases respectively.

As per the media bulletin issued by the Directorate of Public Health Monday night, Tamilnadu tested 72,236 samples and 70,898 people on the day.
