Diet & exercise key for diabetics: Experts


Chennai: A Digital Diabetes conclave was held recently with the theme of ‘Living longer with Diabetes’, and was arranged by the South India Mice Association (SIMA) in collaboration with USV Pvt. Ltd.

A press release said, during the conclave, Dr. Mala Dharamalingam of Ramaiah Memorial Hospital, Bengaluru, emphasised the early detection of risk factors like obesity, lack of exercise, diet pattern, PCOS, etc.

She also highlighted the role of oral medications, combination drugs, and insulin in achieving target glucose levels, and reiterated that regular walking and aerobic exercises are vital for fitness in patients with diabetes.

Dr Ambarish Mithal of Max Healthcare, New Delhi, put forth the importance of patient awareness, affordability, and accessibility of medications.

Dr V Mohan of Dr Mohan’s Diabetes Specialties Centre, Chennai, spoke on the mantra of blood pressure, lipids, and weight regulation along with sugar control to prevent the complication of diabetes.

Dr Mahesh Abhyankar of Scientific Services, USV Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, elaborated on the patient-centric activities like patient awareness programs, diabetic educators training, and medical camps at the mass level carried out by USV showing the company’s leadership in the antidiabetic market.

Dr MK Ajit Kumar, founder and spokesperson of SIMA, welcomed the online audience and Shabin Sarvottam, president of SIMA expressed the vote of thanks.
