With Malayalis in Chennai and neighbouring districts heading home to celebrate Onam with their families, passenger traffic on flights to Kerala has surged sharply, pushing up airfares several times above normal levels on the Chennai-Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode and Kannur sectors.
