Quoted below is a question posed in a semester examination to students of M.S. (Communication) of a reputed educational institution, a deemed university in fact, under the subject paper ‘Political Communication’, about a month back:
‘The assertion of Hindutva assumed a menacing trajectory because of the increasing inability of Indian State to adhere to secular principles of governance.’ Do you agree? Examine the response and inclusion of communication process in this ‘menacing trajectory’.
See how the mantle is passed over to the new generation? And what presumptuousness and implied suggestions that are totally unbefitting of academics whose virtue is supposed to be a spirit of impartial inquiry. And look at the indoctrination of young, impressionable minds! Can anyone even suggest, let alone convince, these scholars of selective study, who are so concerned about the ‘assertion of Hindutva’, on the tyranny unleashed by the religious minorities, who have been unfairly vested with a veto power on anything and everything?
These and such academics, owing to their plugged ears and clogged minds would also cast a cool blind eye to acts like terrorism and conversions indulged in the name of religious freedom that pose a greater danger to the Indian State and its secular principles of governance than the ‘menacing trajectory’ of Hindutva! And it is probably owing to this self-inflicted scholarly ignorance that they are perhaps not asking the students, the future custodians of Bharat’s collective intellect, to critically examine why conversions should not be banned or if religious freedom empowers the missionaries to confiscate consciences or the jehadis to blow up humans.
But this is not a new phenomenon and is in fact as old as the advent of the British empire in India. Since then, it has been a declared State policy to pass off colonial concoctions as History and Current Affairs with several stalwarts as well as warts vitiating the academic environment and perpetuating unseemly myths about India in general and Hinduism in particular.
It is also no coincidence that much of the academia is dominated by Marxist historians and the bulk of the syllabi, in the social realm, are their brainchild, a deformed child though — as deformed as the brains that conceived it.The parasitical Leftists may be a marginalised lot in politics, but in academia, they are found everywhere, to the left, right and centre. In fact, after the banishment of their ideologies to political oblivion, the varsities have been their sole asylum.
They are also media darlings and spend all their spare time –which works out to around 24 hours a day — on TV prime time. These idle minds are however extremely busy devil’s workshops where, ironically, there are no strikes. Their blank mental-spaces are fertile breeding grounds for intellectual weed, conjuring up fabulous self-serving ideas which, aided by grants and doles from public money, become text books and research papers. History is what they say, not what Ashoka or Aurangazeb actually did. And with their cultivated hatred for anything Hindu, they form a very potent demolition squad, drafted to pull down the super-structure of Indian culture and its hoary past.
Joining hands with this banal band are the missionary educationists who are liberally littered all over the academic landscape. These evangelical eagles scavenge the ruins engineered by the commy bull-dozers, and raise their own edifices over them after consuming the evidences to the last bone. This is so both physically and metaphorically, for not only have churches come over the debris of temples but also have academic falsehoods run roughshod over real history which is either hidden beneath the gaze of even cursory inquiry or erased beyond memory’s reach.
Reason why, for instance, not even a die-hard Hindu is going to believe that the St.Thomas Church in Chennai stands tall on a site that was once the home of Kapaleeshwarar! We can imagine the credibility of the ‘history’ built on such ‘facts’ but unfortunately this is the intellectual robe that the brainwashed Indians are made to wear. This diabolical duo –Macaulay’s own and adopted children –have ensured that they enjoy complete sway over education for years to come. They are in a position to captivate and mould the minds of the students to their advantage–and we all know what they think is to their advantage. The above question posed to post-graduate students stands testimony to this conditioning.
But actually, the missionaries do not wait for the minds to mature; rather, ‘catch them young’ is their motto. To quote from a declaration in a Missionary Conference: “The object of all missionary labor should not be primarily the civilization, but the evangelisation of the heathen …schools may be regarded as converting agencies and their value estimated by the number who are led to renounce idolatry and make an open profession to Christianity”. Indeed, there is a surfeit of such literature about the academic plots, but in reality, they were not just academic but implememted practically.
The hijack of the thinking process begins with the choir song at play school, continues through childhood in the form of Christian psalms and prayers to holy whatever- it-is, spills over as adolescent rationality and only seeks consummation at the convocation day. The young mind, now devoid of Hindu ‘superstition’ and instead brimming with derision for it, is then deemed ripe for the advent of such things as democracy, modernity and secularism, all euphemisms for Hindu hatred as well as ‘inclination’ towards Christianity. And all this happens in perfect harmony with the present day debate as is dictated by the media which has identical proclivities. Are all those studying in missionary schools getting converted, is the often raised stock question. The point is it is much worse than that.
The upbringing softens them, disarms them and makes them too ‘secular’ and ‘tolerant’ for their own good. The conditioning makes them look at conversion as a natural fallout of religious freedom and not as an intrusion into their faith and violation of their right to practise their ‘existing’ religion. The larger goal of missionary education, as conceived by Macaulay, was to breed a class of people who would pave the way for conversions and act as facilitators. Don’t we today witness the fruition of his gameplan to the last detail in the person of the secularists?
Indeed, the present and future generations would have to ‘unlearn’ much of what is injected into their minds, if they have to get anywhere near the truths of the days past and even the present. And this can never happen so long as the classrooms and textbooks are in the vice-like grip of professional liars working for a purpose. But this lobby of liars is a very powerful one.
Unfortunately their stranglehold does not seem to be easing a bit, despite cries of saffronisation of education. Such wails are in fact a red herring to sustain the status quo! They will never allow the review of Indian history which is actually a crying need, owing to several recent discoveries. Nor would they countenance a dilution of secular rhetoric in public debates.
For if the truth surfaces in the text books and academic discourse, their very foundations would be rocked no end and the edifice of falsehood would collapse into a heap of rubble, without hope of resurrection. Little wonder that the combination of money, missionaries, Marxists and media are working overtime, pulling reels of wool over all and sundry, blacking out uncomfortable facts. Indeed, it serves them well to keep history in perpetual captivity and the students of it in ignominious ignorance!
Yes, examine we must, this ‘menacing Hindutva’. But what about forced conversions? Are they happening?
