‘Ghajinikanth is based on a person who suffers memory loss. It is not about absent-mindedness. I play a character called Rajinikanth’, says actor Arya.

Directed by Santosh P Jayakumar and bankrolled by Studio Green, the movie has Sayeesha, Adukalam Naren, Satish among others in the cast.

The movie is a remake of Telugu hit film Bale Bale Magadivoy starring nani.
‘Initially I was against doing a remake. But when I was told that it is a remake of Bala Bale Magadivoy, which is hilarious all through, I readily agreed it’, he says.

Excerpts from her interview

Q: Tell us about Ghajinikanth?
A: Ghajinikanth will strike a chord with the audience. It is based on a person who suffers memory loss. It is not about absent-mindedness. I play a character called Rajinikanth. Aadukalam Naren, who plays my father in the film, is a Rajini fan. But, I end up being addressed as Ghajinikanth because I easily get distracted.

Q: How was it to work with Santosh P Jayakumar?
A: He is a hard working filmmaker. Ghajinikanth is strikingly different from his earlier films – Iruttu Arayol Murattu Kudhirai and Hara Hara Mahadevaki. He was hard working and knows what the audience wants.

Q: Why did you accept to do a remake again after Bangalore Natkal?
A: I was not keen to do the movie when producer Gnanavel Raja and director Santosh approached me stating that I should be part of a remake. When I was told that the film was a remake of Telugu film Bale Bale Magadivoy, which had Nani in it, I was excited. We have made enough changes to suit Tamil audience. Whoever see the film will be entertained. A family fare.

Q: On being part of a comedy film?
A: I am always confident that comedy will strike a chord with masses. Humour is an universal topic. But doing comedy movies is never an easy task. And as an artiste, I know what will work at the box office. My judgement will come right this time. Credit to my whole team. They gave their best.

Q: About your co-star Sayeesha Sehgal?
A: She is a wonderful talent. Spontaneous and excellent performer. I am confident that she will go places.
