Chennai: Actor Vijay today visited Kauvery Hospital at Alwarpet to enquire about the condition of former chief minister and DMK president M Karunanidhi who is undergoing treatment there.
Vijay met Karunanidhi’s son and DMK working president M K Stalin and asked after the health of the veteran leader.
Karunanidhi has been in hospital for five days now after his blood pressure dropped on Saturday. He had earlier contracted urinary tract infection and fever and was being treated at home, when his blood pressure suddenly dropped.
Though his parameters are normal now, the hospital bulletin yesterday said he would need extended hospitalisation due to “age-related overall decline in his general health, altered liver function and haemotological parameters”.
After hospital sources said he was conscious and stable, DMK cadres, who had gathered in strength near the hospital, have dispersed. According to reports, normalcy is returning to the area.
