Chennai: The tenth edition of GM’s Cup Cricket Championship, organised by the Southern Railways was inaugurated on 1 August here. The tournament is being held every year to create friendship, fellowship and fun amongst railway employees.

Additional General Manager, Southern Railway, P K Mishra,  was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the Tournament and appreciated the efforts of the Southern Railway Sports Association and Southern Railway Institute.

Various teams from Southern Railway Headquarters office and Chennai Division from branches like Commercial, Operating, Engineering, Mechanical, Signal and Telecommunications, Accounts and Personnel are amongst the 120 teams participating in the GM’s Cup Cricket Championship.

The GM’s Cup will be played in the League Cum knock out basis. Three teams in each group will be playing the Round Robin Stage and the winners from each group will be qualified for the knock out stage.

The second phase of the tournament will be knock-out stage in which the top team of each group will be fighting for the top two spots. The Third phase of the tournament will be from other places of Southern Railway such as, Salem, Erode, Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichirappalli, Trivandrum and Palghat.  In the Final phase the top two teams of Chennai Area, two teams from other Division alongwith Southern Railway Teams will be playing for the GMs Cup.

Match 2 – Ms General ‘A’ 85 for 9 in 12 overs ( Ranjin Kumar 32 ) lost to Sr.Dcm/O/Mas 86 for 3 in 11.5 Overs (Yuvaraj 32)

Match 3 – Rpf ‘A’ 86 for 6 in 12 Overs won Trd/Avd 52 for 9 in 12 Overs

Match 4 – Ms Engg. 89 for 7 in 12 Overs ( Prashanth 37 ) lost to C&W Mas 92 for 5 in 9.5 Overs ( Prabhu 45 N.O)

Match 5 – Avd car shed ‘A’ 115 for 3 in 12 Overs ( Vinoth 80 n.o, Lalith Prasad 3 for 21 ) won Trt combined 99 for 6 in 12 Overs ( Sivaraj 32, Mitchell 3 for 13 Santhosh 3 for 2)

Match 6 – Tnpm/ol 97 for 6 in 12 Overs ( Sathyendra Kumar 32 ) won Mech/Gen/Ms 65 for 9 in 12 Overs ( Sasinath Yadav 3 for 12)

10th Gm trophy – 2018 – 02/08/2018

Match 1 – Avadi car shed ’B’ 57 in 12 Overs lost to AC Electrical / Mas 58 no loss in 9 Overs (Himath Singh Meena 31)

Match 2 – Emu car shed Vlcy 108 for 5 in 12 Overs ( K. Ramesh 33) won carriage branch 88 for 9 in 12 Overs (Laxman 6 for 13 including hat-trick)

Match 3 – Dme/W/Tnpm 65 for 6 in 12 0vers lost to tbm car shed 69 for 3 in 8 overs( anil kumar meena 41)

Match 4 – S&T “A” 25 all out in 7.1 Overs (Ibrahim 7for 8) lost to AC loco/ Ajj 27 for 1 in 3.4 Overs

Match 5 – C & W/Mas 104 for 5 in 12 Overs (Prabhu 35) won AC loco/ Ajj 60 all out in 10.1 Overs (Boopalan 3 for 13, Prem 5 for 5)

Match 6 – Traffic & running 133 for 5 in 12 Overs ( M.S. Prabhu 47, Vijayakmar 31) won bridges Msb 93 for 5 in 12 Overs (John Paul 41, Diwakar 3 for 1)

Match 7 – Ms/Mech ‘A’ 72 for 7 in 12 Overs (Ashok Ram 4 for 6) lost to Sr.Dpo/Mas 73 for 2 in 9.5 Overs ( Selva Kumar 29 N.O)
