Chennai: The Election Commission has been informed that Thiruparankundram Assembly constituency has fallen vacant following the death of MLA A K Bose on Thursday.
Speaking to the media here today, Tamilnadu Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo said works for by-election will start after receiving necessary instructions from the Election Commission of India.
Bose died in Madurai early on Thursday morning after a prolonged illness. He was 69. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.
A three time MLA, Bose was not keeping good health for the last few years. He was admitted to a private hospital Wednesday evening. He breathed his last at around 1 am on Thursday.
