Chennai: An unidentified group went on a looting spree in an autorickshaw near Tirumangalam here in the early hours of today.
Police said the gang intercepted a tea seller Murugan (35) and robbed off Rs 3,000 from him at knife point near Koyambedu bridge.
“Murugan alerted a passerby on a motorcycle to note down the gang’s vehicle number,” the police added.
The group, anticipating trouble, targetted the second man, later identified as Kishore, and looted his cash and two-wheeler. Both the victims lodged a complaint at the Tirumangalam police station.
In another incident, a duo on a motorcycle robbed off a smartphone from Esaki Mani (35), a resident of Rayala Nagar, at Ramapuram here last night. A case has been registered with Rayala Nagar police station and further investigation is on.
