Chennai: When you enter Solomon Street at Adhi Nagar in East Tambaram, in the city suburb, better have a kerchief with you. The smell will make you reel.
“At the entrance, two bins lie with uncleared garbage and an open drain runs next to them,” says T Dilip Karthik, who lives nearby.
“With strewn garbage, there is a serious problem for residents. The place has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes,” says K Ramakrishnan, another resident.
During monsoon, the place gets worse with water stagnation and waste mixing in it, say the residents.
With It raining quite frequently these days, the problem is compounded. The authorities should clear the waste on a regular basis and keep the surroundings clean, say commuters.
