HC dismisses plea for CBI probe into Anna varsity marks scam

Chennai: The Madurai bench of the Madras High Court has dismissed a petition seeking a CBI probe into the Anna University revaluation marks scam.

The scam, unearthed by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC), involves the former controller of examinations G V Uma, a couple of faculty and seven examiners.

It is alleged that money was paid by candidates to boost their marks during revaluation at the rate of Rs 10,000 per paper in 2017.

While the DVAC has filed an FIR, petitioner K K Ramesh moved the Madurai court seeking a CBI probe into the scam.

But, as the government today assured that the DVAC probe was on the right track, the court accepted its submission.

So, the case was dismissed by the court.
