Kollywood mourns MK’s death


As a mark of respect to DMK president and former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, Tamil cinema has postponed few of their programmes and memorial meetings are being organised to pay respect to the departed soul.

Says a filmmaker, “He started his career as a film personality. He was a popular dialogue writer and penned lyrics for songs that spoke about valour, anger, sacrifice and Tamil culture. Hence to honour his contribution to Tamil cinema, we will be holding meetings soon”.

Meanwhile, ‘Pyaar Prema Kaadhal’ which was supposed to release today has been postponed to tomorrow due to the demise of Karunanidhi. In an official statement, the producers said, “With profound grief that was caused by the demise of our beloved leader Karunanidhi we regret to announce the postponement of our film ‘Pyar Prema Kadhal’ from 9 August to 10 August”.

“Considering the plight of the grief-stricken state we are left with no choice. As a mark of respect to the departed leader, we take this decision to postpone the release for a day. We express our deepest condolences to his Family members, Cadres of his party, and the people of Tamilnadu on this occasion. The man who always remained as a lover of good cinema will be with us blessing us forever”.

Produced by Yuvan Shankar Raja’s YSR Films in association with K Productions, Harish Kalyan and Raiza Wilson are playing the lead roles in the film.

Actress Hansika, who is celebrating her birthday today had announced that the title of her 50th film will be announced on 9 August. But due to the demise of former Chief Minister and DMK Chief Kalaignar Karunanidhi, Hansika postponed the title announcement.

“As mark of respect to our beloved leader #kalaignar karunanidhi ji . We will be rescheduling the announcement of the title .date and time will be announced soon . Thank u for your patience #hansika50th”, tweeted Hansika. To be directed by UR Jameel, the female-centric action thriller film will be produced by Koteswara Raju of Jyo Star Enterprises.
