PVR launches fourth multiplex in Chennai

Chennai: PVR Cinemas launched of its fourth multiplex in Chennai at Red Hills, thereby expanding its presence to a total of 22 screens in the city.

In line with its rapid expansion plan, PVR Ltd, India’s largest cinema exhibition company in numbers, has further expanded its presence here. The newly opened PVR is a five-screens multiplex at SKLS Galaxy Mall, GNT Road.

With this launch, PVR has 169 screens in 26 properties in Southern India and a total screen count of 27 screens across five properties in the State of Tamilnadu.

The Cinema is spread across an area of 33,645 sq ft with seating capacity for 977 people. The multiplex features 7.1 Digital surround sound along with 4K projection systems and Next Generation 3D screens, said a statement from the company.

Commenting on the launch, joint managing director of PVR, Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, said, “South is an important market for us and this announcement highlights our commitment towards providing an exceptional customer experience across the location.”

CEO of PVR Cinemas, Gautam Dutta, said, “We are delighted to announce the launch of our fourth multiplex in Chennai and it is indeed a pleasure to outspread our presence in the market. We are confident that the launch of this 5-screens multiplex in Chennai, will be received well by our audiences here.”

With this opening, PVR stands at a total screen count of 643 screens at 138 properties in 54 cities.
