Actor Lawrence donates Rs 1 crore to Kerala as relief fund


Chennai: Following unprecedented floods in Kerala, its Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan requested people to make generous contributions towards the CM’s Distress Relief Fund.

Stressing on the damage the State had suffered due to torrential rains, Vijayan said the government needed more help to rebuild the State.

Celebrities from various walks of lives have been making significant contributions to the relief efforts while encouraging their followers also to do the same.

Actor and social activist Lawrence has now come forward to contribute a huge sum of Rs one crore towards flood relief in Kerala.

In a press release here, the ‘Muni’ actor, said,”I have decided to contribute Rs one crore to Kerala. I am feeling very disheartened to see people suffering there. They are our brothers and sisters.”

“I want to join relief works in person. I am keen to visit the flood-hit areas in Kerala. Now that the rain has reduced considerably, I will be leaving for Kerala to do my best for them in person. I will go through the State government because they know which areas were affected. I will be meeting Pinarayi Vijayan in person Saturday. I will request to allow me serve people in person. I pray to Ragavavendra Swamy to shower his blessings and help rebuild Kerala soon.”

It may be recalled that Tamil actors including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Vishal, Suriya, Karthi, Dhanush, Vijay Sethupathi, Sri Priya, Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh among others contributed towards Kerala CM’s Relief Fund.
