Chennai: âDr Natesan Park at Venkatanarayana Road in the city that has been renovated under the Smart City project, lacks proper maintenance,â said Duraiswamy, a resident nearby and a regular visitor here.
âWhile the childrenâs area with new play equipment, gym space and the like attract plenty of visitors, there are hardly few staffers to take care of the facility,â he complained.
It is alleged that few misuse the area for sleeping, while others throw empty plastic bottles in the garden, and children play in the gym meant for adults.
âIf the situation is not paid attention now, broken and damaged equipment will be the order of the day,â he warned.
âAfter inaugurating the facility, the job is not over for the civic body. It should step in with more maintenance staff to retain the sanctity of the park,â Duraiswamy said.
