Chennai: In a first-of-its-kind initiative in Tamilnadu, the government has called for tenders to develop a mobile app for State-owned buses.
The app will show the time of arrival of the next bus and its route number at a particular bus stop. Also, it will show people the nearest bus stops from their location and weather forecast.
Named as ‘Locate And Access My Bus’, the app will be functioning with the help of inbuilt GPS and Internet in mobile phones and will be released both for android as well as ios mobile operating systems. All in all, it will function very similar to taxi apps like Ola and Uber.
It will provide the route to reach all the 1.5 lakh bus stops in the State. Above all, the app will be supporting both Tamil and English language. Once launched, the app will bring back passengers who stopped using public transport system due to uncertainty in the arrival of buses.
