Chennai: Paytm launched a spam-proof SMS Inbox that uses proprietary machine learning algorithms which classifies SMS that are received into personal, transactional and promotional categories. This offers a clutter-free experience for users.
Paytm which is owned by One97 Communications Limited launched this spam-proof SMS Inbox as a part of its widely popular Paytm Inbox on 1 October.
After the app is activated by the user, it then educates them about the various classifications of the SMS categories and their utility value. User can also choose to delete one or several threads, re-classify SMS and even mark SMS as read/unread.
All the actions that are performed on the app by the user is assessed by the machine learning engine. It remembers the user’s inputs and updates itself accordingly to customise its detection patterns and it also helps in enhancing user experience. This technology removes the need to have a dedicated standalone SMS spam protection app on the phone.
In a press statement, senior vice president – Paytm, Deepak Abbot said, ‘We have witnessed a huge discomfort by mobile phone users in SMS especially with the bulk of it being spam. As a technology company, we want to offer a convenient solution to this problem and are excited to announce the launch of the spam-proof SMS Inbox which is a part of Paytm Inbox.’
He added, “While filtering spam and categorizing SMS, it brings a lot of features that would add value to the lives of our users. It’s a small step in our endeavor to build technology-driven solutions.”
Paytm recently added many new services to Paytm Inbox that includes in-app Live TV, news, cricket, entertainment videos and games among others.
