Chennai: The Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) will petition the National Green Tribunal to not to allow the reopening of the Sterlite copper smelter in Thoothukudi.
According to reports, MNM founder, actor Kamal Haasan, told mediapersons this morning that his party was very firm in its stand that the Sterlite factory should not function. While he conceded that Tamilnadu needs big industries, he added that it should not cause problems for people.

Reacting to actor Vijay’s hint about entering politics, Kamal said he welcomes ‘Thambi Vijay’ if he wants to enter politics. He was happy that Vijay wants to fight corruption through politics.
