Abirami

Chennai: This morning, social media including WhatsApp groups involving journalists, was abuzz with a ‘news’ that Abirami, who poisoned her own children to elope with her lover, has attempted suicide inside Puzhal jail here.

The post was widely circulated on various platforms. However, when ‘News Today‘ contacted an official to verify the news, he said, “Abirami is fine. Nothing has happened to her.”

Sources also said that she will be produced before Madras High Court on 12 October. Abirami (25) lived with her husband Vijay (30), who works at a private bank and her children – a seven-year-old son and a five-year-old daughter, at Agastheeswarar Koil Street at Kundrathur here.

While her husband had gone to the office on 1 September, she poisoned her children in order to elope with her lover, Sundaram, who worked at a biriyani shop nearby.

Abirami had an extramarital affair with Sundaram, whom she met at a restaurant. Preliminary investigations revealed that Abirami and her husband had a love marriage eight years ago and moved to Kundrathur just five months back. Abhirami met Sundaram when the family dined at the hotel recently.

The duo planned to kill all three, including her husband and elope to Nagercoil. Post the incident, Vijay was invited to Rajinikanth’s residence where the actor expressed his condolences. Also, several dubsmash videos of Abirami along with Sundaram were widely circulated. She was shamed on social media for killing her children to live with her lover.
