Chennai: It was his passion towards travel that made Choolaimedu resident Manoj Suriya in the city quit his lucrative corporate job and start an adventure tourism company.

“I have always loved travelling and have undertaken many trips all around the country. It is during these experiences that I felt that there is no proper guidance for travellers. I therefore decided to offer one and subsequently started ‘Tent N Trek’, a complete adventure tour package,” he says.

‘Tent n Trek’ offers packaged tourism to 50 locations within India. Our aim is to open up tourism overseas soon’, says a confident Manoj in a chat with News Today.

Excerpts from the interview:

What has been the response to your venture?

When I started this two years back, only two people came up. I was initially a bit disappointed. However, the numbers gradually started increasing and we now get around 1,000-2,000 inquiries every month.

Tell us about your team.

Our team is a young and energetic pack. There are seven full-time members and five freelancers. These 12 form the core team at Chennai and we also join with local groups in other parts of the country.

What kind of a travel experience do you offer?

We offer adventure trips like trekking, kayaking, camping, scuba diving and jungle stay. We also take up personalised tourism based on the client’s wish. We have varieties of camping at beaches, jungles and mountains. From pickup to drop, it is all included in the package.

We also provide weekend camping every week, a unique night cycling experience within Chennai and undertake school, college tours and even corporate outings.

Could you tell us more about the night cycling offer?

While cycling feels normal during the day, at night it gives a totally different experience to the rider. We started this two years ago in different locations like Marina, Thiruvanmaiyur, Besant Nagar and De Monte Colony. We make trips from 11 pm to 3 am. Manoj can be reached at 9500407464.
