Chennai: Over 700 school and college students took part in various competitions conducted by Dr MGR-Janaki College of Arts and Science for Women as part of former Chief Minister M G Ramachandran’s birth anniversary celebrations.
Tamil Development Department and International Institute of Tamil Studies Director K Vijayaraghavan inaugurated the event, which included oratorical, essay, poetry, dumb charades, painting and rangoli competitions.
Veteran film director S P Muthuraman gave away prizes to the winners. “Dr M G Ramachandran is well known as an actor and politician by people of Tamilnadu. Aimed at spreading and inculcating values amidst younger generation, the competitions witness growing participation year on year. This is our third edition and we feel extremely happy about such an outcome,” said Dr MGR-Janaki College for Women correspondent Latha Rajendran.
