Chennai: Over 4,000 students of Brainobrain Kids Academy from all over India were trained in Mental Arithmetic in one go, in an attempt to create a new Guinness record.
The effort was to break the previous Guinness record of over 1,073 participants set by China. The event took place on Sunday evening at the sprawling Chennai Trade Centre in the city.
An Academy release on Monday said children in the age group of 4-14 from Brainobrain centres all over the country underwent a 40-minute largest-ever session during which they were exposed to swift computing abilities in Addition, Subtraction and Multiplication.
Starting from Single digits to triple digit numbers ranging from five rows to 20 rows of addition and subtraction along with multiplication were performed by children with great speed and accuracy. The session, conducted by Brainobrain Kids Academy Director Arul Subramaniam, ended with a five minute test that proved the students superfast computing abilities outdoing the calculators.
“This is an attempt to show that our kids are experts in cognitive skills and mental aptitude. Exposures like Guinness will improve their confidence not just in learning, but in life as well,” he said. Brainobrain sharpens their concentration, listening skills, creativity, memory power and imagination, he added.
This would help not only in their academics, but would be a strong foundation for their future career too.
”We hope that our attempt will create history in the Guinness Records and Asia Book of Records too,” Academy Managing Director Anand Subramaniam said.
